NBC 5 Crew Finds Gun Used in Dallas Chase: Police

NBC 5 reporter Kendra Lyn and photojournalist Brice Hill discovered a gun that police say was used by a driver that lead them on a chase in Dallas early Monday morning.

When our NBC 5 crew arrived at the scene near Canada Drive and Hampton Road in Dallas, police were taking two men into custody. Police said at that time, they were still searching for the weapon used in the high-speed chase and shooting.

Dallas police said the weapon found by Lyn and Hill matches the description of a .22-caliber gun that was used in the incident.

Officers were driving on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge when they observed a vehicle in front of them failing to stay in its lane. As the officers pulled the vehicle over, they observed muzzle flashes as shots were fired at the police vehicle. The driver then sped away, leading the officer on a short chase across the bridge.

Police said two people bailed out of the car near Canada Drive and Hampton Road and were caught. Neither person was identified by police, who also did not say why they believe the driver took off and opened fire at officers.
