Lock Downs Lifted at Murphy Schools

Harry & Retha Tibbals Elementary School in Murphy.

Tibballs and Grove elementary schools in Murphy were placed on lockdown Tuesday while police responded to a shots fired call, police say.

Murphy police posted on Facebook that they received a call at about 11:40 a.m. that gunshots had been fired on the 500 block of Windward Drive.

Tibballs Elementary School is about two blocks south of the location, at Rosewood Drive and Waters Edge Way, while Grove Elementary School is just a little farther at Waters Edge Way and McCreary Road.

The lockdowns were lifted at 1 p.m.

Murphy police and Wylie police are searching the area and said the schools are locked down only as a precaution.
