Motorcyclist Killed In Overnight Crash

Man killed after hitting another crashed vehicle

A motorcyclist was killed after a crash in a construction zone on Northwest Highway, according to police.

The initial crash happened around 2:45 a.m., and involved an SUV and a construction vehicle.

According to police, a 19-year-old man hit a construction vehicle that has a large flashing arrow, used to direct traffic. The teen was not seriously injured, but it knocked the construction vehicle on its side.

A motorcyclist, attempting to drive around the accident, was clipped by a metal bar that was hanging out from the construction vehicle.  The motorcyclist crashed and was transported to Baylor Hospital where he later died.

Police said they are evaluating whether alcohol played a role in the initial crash.
