Motorcyclist Badly Hurt Following Police Chase

Crash debris scattered for approximately 200 yards

A motorcycle rider is in serious condition in a local hospital Wednesday morning following an overnight police pursuit that ended with a crash.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety began their pursuit of the motorcycle around 1:10 a.m. at Preston Road and state Highway 121 in Plano when the rider reportedly refused to pull over for a traffic stop.

The motorcycle rider, a man in his 20s, traveled across 121, headed south on the Dallas North Tollway and exited at Legacy Drive, according to police.

The rider reportedly lost control in the 3100-block of Legacy, hit a curb and skidded along the sidewalk and roadway before coming to a stop approximately 200 yards away from where the crash started.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken away from the scene in an ambulance and is being treated at a local hospital.

He will be charged with traffic violations and felony evading arrest.

Police have not yet said why they tried to stop the motorcycle to begin with.
