Mother Collapses and Dies, Smothers Son

Investigators now say a 15-year-old suburban Dallas girl collapsed and died from an asthma attack, falling on and smothering her 1-month-old son.

Police in Irving, a Dallas suburb, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Monday that test results from the Dallas County medical examiner's office show that Rebecca Ray died of natural causes in her bedroom on Dec. 15.

Police Sgt. Danny Webb says she apparently was holding her infant son, Cole Childress, when she collapsed and fell on him, suffocating him.

Tests by the Dallas County medical examiner's office shows Rebecca Ray collapsed from an asthma attack and died in a bedroom of her home in Irving, a Dallas suburb.

Autopsies found no injuries to either.
