Mother, Boy Dead in Possible Murder-Suicide

Police in Plano are investigating the deaths of a mid-20s woman and her 4-year-old son in a possible murder-suicide.

Plano police said Friday that officers responding to a welfare call found the woman and her son dead inside an apartment in the 6200 block of Windhaven Parkway. Each had a gunshot wound. A handgun was found at the scene.

Officer David Tilley says officers are still investigating a possible motive, but that all indications are that the mother shot her son. Tilley says he's not aware of any previous calls to the woman's apartment or signs of trouble.

Neighbor Leroy Levon said he spoke to the woman just yesterday on her way to work.

β€œIt’s shocking news to everybody in this complex,” said Levon.

Neighbors said they would often see the woman walking her four year old boy to daycare.

β€œIt just really got to me. It hurt my heart," Levon said. "That little boy ain’t lived much- his life. And that’s real young, something like that to happen to him. It makes me real mad.”

The Collin County medical examiner's has not yet determined the cause of death.

The dead's identities were withheld as police notify their next of kin.
