More Than a Ton of Marijuana Seized in S. Texas

Pot found hidden in pottery

Federal authorities say more than a ton of marijuana has been seized in South Texas after being found hidden in a shipment of pottery.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says agents at a checkpoint in Laredo pulled a tractor-trailer aside Tuesday for an inspection. Authorities say some 2,275 pounds of marijuana, bundled in hundreds of packages, was found stashed among ceramic pots and vases.

The estimated street value of the drug is $1.8 million.

Agents seized the tractor-trailer along with the marijuana.
