More than $7,000 in rewards have been offered for tips leading to arrests after more than 20 sheep were stolen or mutilated and slain at a South Texas farm.

The Houston Chronicle on Wednesday reported the Humane Society of the U.S. has offered a $5,000 reward for information in the Port Lavaca animal killings. The Calhoun County Sheriff's Department has also been offering up to $2,500 from a private donor.

Wayne and Karen Daggs of Port Lavaca since July have had 21 of their prized Barbado sheep disappear or the animals were found slain.

The last reported mutilations happened in early October. Daggs estimates the sheep were worth about $1,250.

Port Lavaca is 75 miles northeast of Corpus Christi.
