A Lewisville middle school physical education coach is under investigation after students say he got too physical.

Lewisville police confirmed that they are investigating Patrick Robinson after students at Hedrick Middle School reported that he picked them up by their hair on May 1.

“Allegedly, the coach -- it was in PE class -- and the coach grabbed three students by the hair and pulled them to their feet,” Capt. Kevin Deaver said.

Deaver also said Robinson was just under investigation and had not been not arrested.

The Lewisville Independent School District confirmed that Robinson was employed at the middle school but resigned shortly after the incident. Robinson had worked for the school for two years.

District spokeswoman Karen Permetti said Robinson is still getting paid as the investigation continues but did not return to the school after the incident was reported.

Permetti also said parents were not notified of the alleged incident. Parents who inquired were told about the situation, she said.

Police said they believe the case is isolated but are still investigating.

Deaver said Robinson could face three felony counts of injury to a child.

Some students, with their parents' permission, talked to NBC 5 about the allegations. They said they were shocked that Robinson, one of the more popular teachers, was no longer at the school.

“I was kind of surprised, because Coach Robinson was nice to everyone," sixth-grader Elise Leon said. "Everyone liked him. He really cared about us.”
