Meteor Group Says Fireball Reported in Texas

People in Texas have reported seeing a fireball, possibly a meteor, traveling through the night sky.

The American Meteor Society reported on its website that it had received more than 200 reports about a bright fireball over San Antonio at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the meteor society, witnesses reported an extremely bright green light that rivaled the brightness of the sun.

Residents from the Dallas area down south to Corpus Christi also reported seeing the fireball.

In dashcam video (seen above at 26 second in) provided to KENS-TV in San Antonio by the Hewitt Police Department, a large bright light can be seen streaking across the sky.

The National Weather Service in San Antonio says there are no confirmed reports on whether the possible meteor landed somewhere.

The NWS San Antonio tweeted a video from YouTube that appears to show the same fireball (see below at 12 seconds in)
