Mavs Run This Town 5K Featuring Post-Race Party and Live Music

If you’re a fan of post-workout partying, the Mavs Run This Town 5K may be just the race for you.

The 5K is taking its mark Thursday at 7 p.m. in downtown Dallas. As a reward for those who sweat it out, there will be a post-run party, featuring “live music, food and beer,” according to a press release.

The 5K entrance fee also gets participants a Dallas Mavericks game ticket voucher and t-shirt along with the food and drinks at the party. There will be food trucks as well, but those cost a little extra.

The entrance fee is $45 if you register before the event and $55 on Thursday. All proceeds are going to the Mavs Foundation which provides community grants, creates learning centers and constructs youth basketball courts in north Texas, the press release said.

If you’re not quite the running aficionado, it’s still possible to register and simply come for the party, but the entrance fee is the same.

Live music will be provided by the Quaker City Night Hawks. The Mavericks website describes the band’s style as “southern rock right out of ’75, played with the fervor of a sermon crackling out of the radio in a ’68 Lincoln.”

The 5K is a part of the RunDallas Race Series which also features 5K events by FC Dallas and the Texas Rangers, the website said.

The race will start and finish on Olive Street between the AT&T Plaza and W Hotel. Dallas police will be stationed to direct traffic and control crowds.

Information on registering for the race and more logistics can be found here.
