Mavs Earn Satisfying Sweep Of Lakers

It’s not nearly as sweet as the one in 2011, but any time the Mavs sweep the team with “Lakers” on their jerseys it tastes pretty dang good.

Four Springs ago, of course, the Mavs launched their run to the title with a four-game sweep of L.A. in the Western Conference semifinals. That Lakers’ team featured Kobe Bryant.

The one that last night Dallas beat for the fourth time this season was led by, um, Jordan Clarkson.

This season sweep has given the Mavs some momentum heading into the playoffs and perched them for another 50-win season. After Sunday’s 120-106 cakewalk over a hapless Lakers’ team en route to a forgettable season, Dallas is 49-31 with only games remaining at Utah tonight and at home against the Blazers Wednesday.

Even with Chandler Parsons still out with a sore knee and with head coach Rick Carlisle resting Devin Harris and Amar’e Stoudemire, the Lakers put up little resistance. The Mavs went 4-0 against the Lakers this season and averaged 116 points per game against their long-time nemesis.

Kick ‘em while they’re down. Right?
