The victim had just parked his vehicle and was walking to his apartment when a man approached and shot him, according to police. The man then took the victim's wallet out of his pants and rode away on a bicycle.

Police said the victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Shortly after, the man approached a second man, Badam Acsaryn, who was waiting in his car to pick up his friend, Kale Sazrpa, at the apartment complex. When Acsaryn refused to open his door, the man kicked through the car window and stole the his wallet.

"He was asking, 'Do you have a balance on your debit card or no?;" Sazrpa said.

Acsaryn, who moved to the United States from Nepal about three months ago, sustained a cut on his hand from broken glass.
