Man, Woman Arrested After 50-Mile Chase: Authorities

Authorities said they arrested two people after a high-speed chase that spanned more than 50 miles and three counties overnight.

The chase started on U.S. 75 near Mockingbird Lane in Dallas when police said they received a call about a pickup truck being driven erratically. The driver refused to stop, instead heading south on Interstate 45.

Police said the driver reached speeds of nearly 100 mph at times. Officers spiked his tires, but he continued driving at up to 75 mph on four flat tires. One of the pursuing troopers also drove over the spikes and had to pull over.

The driver eventually pulled over and surrendered on I-45 near Farm-to-Market Road 1603 in Navarro County. Police said they arrested the male driver and a female passenger.

Police said they found bulletproof vests inside the truck.

The driver was taken to the Navarro County Jail and faces a charge of evading arrest. Police said the passenger has not been charged.
