Man Who Shot at Drivers Sentenced 90 Years

A judge in Dallas has ordered 90 years in prison for a man who shot at motorists.

Two people were slightly hurt in the 2008 gunfire blamed on 24-year-old Thai-An Huu Nguyen. Investigators say Nguyen targeted random Asians and Hispanics in the Dallas area because he allegedly was upset about previous altercations with minorities.

Further details were not released.

Prosecutors say there was not enough evidence to pursue the cases as hate crimes.

Nguyen pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of deadly conduct.

He was sentenced 20 years for each aggravated assault case and 10 years for each deadly conduct charge.

The sentences will run consecutively. Nguyen also had his probation revoked on 2006 charges of assault and failure to stop and render aid.
