Man Suspected of Robbing 19 Banks Indicted on One Count

A grand jury indicted the man believed to be the “Mesh Mask Bandit” on Tuesday on a federal bank robbery charge.

Luis de la Garza, 59, a former immigration-rights activist of Farmers Branch, was indicted on one count for robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in the 13000 block of Josey Lane in Farmers Branch on April 22..

De la Garza is suspected of being the Mesh Mask Bandit, robbing 19 banks across North Texas since New Year’s Eve. He has only been indicted for one bank robbery.

The FBI had dubbed the bank robber the Mesh Mask Bandit because of a mesh mask that hid his face.

De la Garza is still in federal custody.
