Coppell High School graduate Charles West, 18, and BYU football commit was shot in the arm Sunday evening while playing basketball with friends at a North Texas middle school.

Before the arrest, Coppell Police Department Sgt. Sammy Lujan said investigators weren't sure what led to the shooting. As of Tuesday morning, a motive has still not been revealed.

West, who recently graduated Coppell High School and is expected to attend BYU in the fall, was treated at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for a gunshot wound to the left upper arm. Officials said he was released from the hospital Monday morning.

Coppell police said there is a video that shows the shooting and asked that anyone else with information, or video, to call them at 972-304-3600.

"The existence of the video helps us because we are able to visually see what happened. That’s rare, you often don’t get to see the actual shooting. So we’re able to see, we can identify witnesses," said Lujan.

NBC 5's Jeff Smith contributed to this report.
