Arrest Made in West Side Fatal Shooting

Fort Worth police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting on the city's far west side.

According to police, shortly after 9 a.m. Monday officers were called to a home on the 8100 block of Calmont Avenue.

Officers at the scene reported finding a shooting victim with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth where he later died.

Witnesses at the scene told police they heard several gunshots and provided an identity of the gunman.

Officers later found and interviewed 29-year-old Walter Knight, who denied any role in the shooting.  Detectives said they found additional evidence at the scene that implicated Knight in the crime and arrested him without incident.

Knight, whose mug shot is being withheld pending a photo lineup, is being held on $100,000 bond.
