Man Shot After Pulling Gun on DPD

Dallas police shot and critically wounded a man late Thursday night who pulled a weapon on officers as they tried to take him into custody.

The man, 22-year-old Steven Matthew Sanchez, was wanted on an outstanding felony family violence warrant and was reported to be a Superior Bail Bonds at 230 S. Riverfront Boulevard.  Three officers and a supervisor were dispatched to investigate.

When the arrived, officers found Sanchez near the doorway.  When they tried to take him into custody, a struggle ensued and he pulled a gun from his waistband.  Two of the four officers pulled their own weapons and opened fire, striking Sanchez.

Sanchez was transported to Parkland Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

None of the officers were injured.

Police said Friday afternoon that once Sanchez is released from the hospital, he will be charged with aggravated assault on a public servant.
