Man Kills Self in Standoff With Parker County Sheriff's Deputies

Accused child sexual predator had 16 active warrants, sheriff's department says

A standoff at a home in Aledo Wednesday ended in suicide, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office says.

According to deputies, the Weatherford-Parker County Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team attempted to serve 16 warrants on 54-year-old Chester Lee Martin at his home on the 1100 block of Becky Drive.

When deputies arrived at about 4 p.m., Martin threatened the officers saying that he would, “shoot the first officer that comes through the door.”

Martin then barricaded himself in the house, yelling out that he would not exit the home peacefully and that he was armed with a 9mm Taurus handgun.

The Fort Worth SWAT team said Martin fatally shot himself in the head at about 3:30 a.m.

The Texas Rangers and the Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the shooting.
