Plano police are searching for a man they said has exposed himself to at least five girls since October.

Officer Andrae Smith said the man lures girls close to his car by asking them for directions and then exposes himself. All five victims are between the ages of 10 and 14.

The man exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl in front of Mary Martinez's house in the 1100 block of Crest Ridge. The girl, who had been riding her bike, ran to Martinez's home for help.

"She was scared," Martinez said. "She was crying. I was calling 911 while she used one of my daughter's phones and called her mom."

Plane police said three more incidents were reported that day.

Investigators said the man targets girls in neighborhoods near schools.

Martinez said she is more protective of her five children since the incident.

"I've been picking them up from school," she said. "Their school is right down the street, but I don't let them walk home anymore."

Police said similar instances have been reported in Carrollton and Frisco. Police said the same man may be responsible in all of them.
