Police said they responded to a major disturbance call at about 7:30 p.m. in the Buckner Terrace neighborhood of Pleasant Grove where several people had called 911, reporting Anthony was running into traffic, approaching vehicles and banging on the windows of nearby businesses.

Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics driving by noticed the behavior and stopped to help Anthony, police said.

Officials said Anthony then banged his fists on the hood of the ambulance and got into a parked vehicle belonging to someone else. Police said they told the man to get out of the car. He briefly opened the door and was removed by officers.

A struggle ensued, and one officer used his Taser on Anthony, who began to show signs of distress, police said.

The paramedics at the scene provided immediate medical attention to Anthony, police said, and then transported him to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The four officers involved in the arrest have been placed on routine administrative leave as the police department continues its investigation.
