Police Officers on Paid Leave After Chase, Shooting

Two Garland officers have been placed on paid leave, after a chase and shooting, Friday night.

The man who led police on a long chase was fatally shot after his pickup truck slammed into a tree and he pulled out a gun during a confrontation with officers, Garland police said.
 
The chase started in in the area of Centerville Rd. and Kingsley Rd. in Garland and continued until the wreck in the 900 block of Montclair off Intestate 30 in Dallas. Antonio Alonzo died at the scene, police said.
 
Dallas detectives are investigating the incident and Garland Police are conducting an internal affairs investigation.
