Man Charged in Fatal Grand Prairie Office Shooting

A man is facing murder charges after Grand Prairie police say he walked into an office building and fatally shot a co-worker Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, at about 2 p.m. Tuesday they were called to a shooting at a 4-story office building on the 2000 block of state Highway 360.

When officers arrived, they were directed to the shooting victim, 24-year-old Ricky McCowin, who had been shot once in the head.  McCowin was immediately transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Witnesses told police the gunman was seen running away from the building and a search for the man, later identified as 30-year-old Louis Anthony Davis, was under way.

At about 5 p.m., Grand Prairie police found Davis walking along the 1100 block of Avenue R.  He was taken into custody without incident, charged with murder and is being held on $500,000 bond.

Police said Wednesday that Davis and McCowin were both employed by Crescent Processing Company, which had an office on the 4th floor of the building.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
