Man Arrested in Dallas Computer Burglaries

Dallas police said they may have shut down a major burglary ring with the arrest of a 24-year-old man.

Investigators said surveillance video shows Cord Causey and another man stealing dozens of computers from Dallas-based timeshare company Silverleaf Resorts.

Police said Causey and his accomplice broke into Silverleaf Resorts on Riverbend Drive in Dallas three times this month and stole thousands of dollars worth of high-tech computer equipment.

“The business thought they would never see their property again," Deputy Chief Malik Aziz said. "They had suffered a tremendous loss."

But the tides turned Thursday, when Dallas police got a call from a hotel clerk who was suspicious of one of his guests.

Aziz said officers found Causey at the hotel with at least $50,000 worth of stolen computer equipment in his hotel room.

“I believe it was fantastic police work,” Aziz said.

Police said Causey was clearly targeting Silverleaf Resorts but may also be behind several other business burglaries.

Causey is being held in the Dallas County Jail on a $175,000 bond.

“We're still looking for the one on the run," Aziz said. "And that's a good place for him to be -- on the run, because we're going to get him before it's over."
