Man Arrested in Brother's Fatal Shooting at Benbrook Home: Police

A man is suspected of fatally shooting his adult brother Wednesday in Benbrook, police say.

Officers were called just before noon to a home on the 200 block of San Angelo Avenue on a report of a shooting.

Police said a man was found deceased in the backyard of the home, and the suspected gunman barricaded himself inside the house.

Authorities later identified the man who was found deceased as 58-year-old Thomas Powley, of Fort Worth.

SWAT officers from Benbrook and Fort Worth worked to get the suspected gunman to come outside, and police say he made threats toward officers and himself.

At about 3 p.m. there was a brief exchange of gunfire, but nobody was injured as police arrested the man.

He was identified as 56-year-old John Lawrence Conroy. Information about charges against Conroy have not yet been released.
