Man, 22, Charged With Kidnapping, Sexual Assault in Corsicana

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on a number of charges including kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault following a 3-week investigation.

Corsicana police arrested Luis Salas-Trevino on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, evading arrest, obstruction and retaliation, and theft of firearm and property.

Police said the investigation began on Nov. 16 when a woman reported she was the victim of a rape that occurred on Nov. 12.

The woman told police Salas-Trevino said he was too drunk to drive and asked for a ride home. The victim obliged and, for an unexplained reason, waited on the man to come back outside. When he did, he returned armed with a gun and ordered the woman to drive them back to her residence where he sexually assaulted her.

Police did not say if the victim and suspect knew each other.

Investigators began looking for Salas-Trevino, but had a hard time locating him right away. It wasn't until they received another report of an assault on Dec. 3 that they located their suspect.

"On Dec. 3, a mother of a 15-year-old approached the CPD to report that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by the suspect on Nov. 23 at an address in Navarro County, and was now threatening her on social media," said Robert Johnson, Corsicana Chief of Police.

Corsicana officers followed up on another location and found Salas-Trevino. He ran and tried to evade arrest, but was captured after a short foot chase.

In addition to the assault and evading charges in Corsicana, Salas-Trevino was arrested on outstanding charges of theft of a firearm, theft of property and failure to appear, one in Brownsville and another out of Colorado.
