Authorities said they arrested a man Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of an Arlington Martin High School student.
Arlington police arrested 20-year-old Devin Rayon Holland at an Arlington residence at about 1:30 a.m. Police said they suspect Holland in the killing of 18-year-old Martin High School senior Carl Wilson, who was found near a Kennedale car wash after witnesses reported multiple people firing gunshots Jan. 12.
Kennedale police said they secured a warrant to arrest Holland Wednesday based on evidence obtained from interviews, forensic evidence and cellphone records.
"We obviously wanted to clear up any offense, especially of this magnitude, as quickly as possible," Kennedale Police Department Chief Tommy Williams said. "The longer it goes, the more difficult it can become."
According to the police warrant affidavit, Wilson was involved in an ongoing argument with another high school student who was associated with the well-known Trill Fam gang.
On the day of the shooting, according to the affidavit, Wilson agreed to meet the student after school to fight and showed up at the car wash.
The other student was at the apartment complex across the street from the car wash and according to the affidavit members of the Trill Fam gang were there to see the fight.

According to the affidavit, Wilson and another person crossed the street and Wilson said there would be a fight or he was going to get a "thump," which is street slang for a gun.
According to the affidavit, witnesses told police Holland stepped out of the group and shot Wilson once in the chest and then stood over him and shot him twice more in the head.
The group scattered and, according to the affidavit, Holland and a friend took off in a pickup truck.
Wilson played for his school's football team and was the father of a young child. Wilson's mother told NBC 5 that the arrest brings her some peace of mind.
"I just want justice for my son," she said.
Police said they charged Holland, who remains in the Mansfield jail, with murder. No bond information has yet been made available.
