Lubbock Man Indicted After Infant Daughter Drowns

A 27-year-old Lubbock man has been indicted on a charge of injury to a child after his 3-month-old daughter drowned in a bathtub.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports Michael Livesay was indicted Tuesday of a felony count of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. Lubbock police arrested him after the girl drowned Sept. 23.

He remained in Lubbock County jail Wednesday. Jail records didn't list an attorney.

An arrest warrant says he admitted placing his daughter -- Vera Ruth Livesay -- in a bathtub, running the water and walking to a couch where he fell asleep for about 15 minutes.

Livesay told detectives he awoke, realized what had happened and ran to a neighbor's house seeking help. He then returned home, called 911 and began CPR.
