Low Airfare Prices Available Now For Fall Travel

Now is the best time to lock in low airfares for fall travel.

“You should be shopping right now, this is the sweet spot of shopping,” said Rick Seaney with FareCompare.com. “We saw early June sales, which we see the last two or three years, now we’re seeing sort of the early July sales that come out for fall travel”.

Some of the best deals leave from Dallas Love Field, where Southwest Airlines and Virgin America are going toe-to-toe over low fares.

American, United and Spirit airlines are matching them on selected flights.

“So the holy grail of all travel history is $99 coast-to-coast, when you see fares under $99, you just don’t happen very often each way,” said Seaney.

We found fares as low as $167 round-trip to New York City and $137 round-trip to Los Angeles.

“Who doesn’t want to save money, right?” said Southwest passenger Drea Porter. “It’s awesome, it’s definitely awesome.”

The low fares are generally good for flights after Aug. 24, when students start heading back to school.

“We got a family of four here flying,” said Virgin America passenger Gail Matthews. “So, we’re always on the hunt for the lowest price possible.”

Virgin America launched a one-day sale on Tuesday, but the Southwest sale continues for about another week.

Other airlines are expected to keep pace at least until then.
