Anna Waynette Vandergriff, wife of former Tarrant County Judge and long-time Arlington mayor Tom Vandergriff, died Saturday, only two weeks after being diagnosed with leukemia.

Vandergriff, 82, was the first lady of Arlington for 26 years and was a tireless supporter of Arlington and of her husband’s political career, which included 13 terms as Arlington mayor.

She was a graduate of Arlington High School and North Texas Agricultural College, which later became known as the University of Texas at Arlington.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
