Local Soldiers Get Heroes' Welcome

Dozens of local soldiers are home again and receiving warm welcomes from family and friends after serving a year in the Middle East.

"It's one of the best days of my life. I've been counting down to this day," Sergeant First Class Mark Parrel said. "I'm just glad I'm back safe."

Soldiers from the Army Reserve 90th Aviation Support Battalion have spent the past nine months serving in Kuwait and Iraq. Members of the local American Legion Post and the White Settlement Fire Department arrived early Saturday at the Reserve Center to give them a heroes welcome.

"Just driving through the gate and seeing the place is just -- you know you're home," Specialist William Prettyman said.

After months of waiting, these families certainly have enough love to go around.
