Little Kids Make Lousy Lookouts

Three women arrested for shoplifting while kids present

The children of three Lewisville mothers probably should look elsewhere for positive role models.

Grapevine police Tuesday popped the three women for shoplifting at the JC Penney store inside Grapevine Mills mall. The standout feature of the incident and subsequent arrest is that each of the three suspects had at least one kid along with her -- a total of five kids, according to the police report, all younger than 3.

Police released the children to an "uninvolved third party," so at least they're not going to jail, too.

I'm thinking this might not be on the list of mommy-and-me shared activities prepared by some child-rearing experts.

All three women, according to the police report, admitted their shoplifting ways, and the total value of the purloined pieces barely topped $200, so, was it worth it?

Police charged the trio with engaging in organized criminal activity and the final line on the arrest report read, "prosecution is desired."

The surveillance video and suspects' admissions likely should weigh heavily into the court case.

Yup, those kids need new role models because mommy's probably going on a little trip.
