Several North Texas Roads Remain Flooded

Rains that swept through North Texas has caused flooding that closed roads, seeped into homes and caused the collapse of a rural bridge under a truck carrying a family.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Ted Ryan told The Associated Press that between three and six inches of rain fell across the already-saturated area Sunday.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Kyle Bradford said high-water rescues were reported in Caddo Mills in Hunt County. According to a Collin County official, in addition to road closures there, water had seeped into some homes in the small town of Josephine.

Farm-to-Market Road 2499 remained closed from Grapevine Mills Boulevard to Lakeside Parkway in Flower Mound.

Texas Department of Transportation officials said the water had receded some by Monday, but it wasn't enough to open the road.

Neighbors and community leaders in the flood affected areas warn that many of the alternative roads and detours are seeing heavy traffic due to the extra volume and construction in the areas.

Flower Mound Town leaders urge drivers to plan out alternate routes ahead of time and prepare for delays in your trip.

At one point Sunday, police had to close part of Interstate 30 in Rockwall because water was covering the road.

Other road closures include:
