Lightning Strike Causes Fire in Richardson Home

The fire chief confirms that the fire was caused by a direct lightning strike

A Richardson home is partly destroyed after a lightning strike caused a fire early Wednesday morning.

At about 1 a.m. lightning hit a home on 1000-block of Wake Drive that led to a flames throughout the home.

The fire chief confirms that the fire was caused by a direct lightning strike.

There was a family of four in the home at the time of the strike, all safely escaped the blaze.

The family is now staying with relatives.

The fire chief said the home is about 50 percent destroyed. Most of the damage is in the kitchen and living area, according to officials.
