League City Denies Officials' Ammunition Requests

The city manager of League City has denied two council members' requests to get a discount on ammunition purchases by including them in the police department's bulk order.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Mark Rohr removed the council members' personal requests before the department's order was approved by the governing body on Tuesday. He did not elaborate on why the decision was made. It's unclear what type of ammunition they hoped to order or how much they wanted.

The police chief offered in September to include the elected officials after some of them expressed interest.

One council member said she was trying to buy gifts. The other said he wasn't trying to avoid paying taxes and sought to remain a responsible gun owner through shooting practice.
