Layoffs Underway At Dallas ISD

Superintendent Miles Restructuring Leadership Division

Dozens of Dallas Independent School District employees received layoff notices on Saturday, June 30.  It's part of the restructuring of the district's School Leadership division.  80 positions were reduced to 36.

The changes were ordered by incoming Superintendent Mike Miles.

"There is no better time for change to take place," said Miles on the Dallas ISD website. "As the end of the school year approaches, it makes sense to reorganize now so that there is as much time as possible to focus on improving the quality of instruction, raising student achievement and supporting the culture and climate of each school in Dallas ISD."

Miles will officially take his post on July 1.

Dallas ISD said the laid off employees can apply for other jobs within the district.
