Lancaster Police Chief Placed on Administrative Leave: Officials

The Lancaster police chief is on administrative leave pending an investigation regarding an officer's use of force during a recent stop.

Officials want to know if Chief Cheryl Wilson acted appropriately while one of her officers was under investigation for an arrest in August during which a Taser was used on a pedestrian.

In the beginning there were questions about the use of force, but investigators cleared the officer and said he acted appropriately in the stop.

But city leaders said the chief allowed the officer to return to work before a thorough internal review was complete. The FBI and Texas Rangers are now conducting an independent review.

Wilson will be paid while the investigation into her actions continues.
