La Vernia Teacher Accused of Improper Student Relationship

A South Texas high school teacher is facing criminal charges on accusations he had a sexual relationship with a student.

The superintendent of the La Vernia school district says Taylor Vader has been placed on administrative leave after school officials learned of the allegations.

The city's police chief says Vader is charged with having an improper relationship between an educator and student and sexual assault of a child.

According to the district's website, Vader teaches physics and anatomy at La Vernia High School. He also serves as a tennis coach.

Wilson County Jail records show Vader has been released on bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney yet.
