A 55-year-old former Central Texas teacher has been charged with having sex with a 16-year-old female student in his classroom and elsewhere.
Killeen police said Samuel Antonio Caines Jr. was arraigned Thursday on a charge of an inappropriate relationship between an educator and a student. Online jail records had no information on an attorney for Caines, who was freed on $100,000 bond.
Caines worked at Killeen High School until being put on leave in February after Killeen Independent School District administrators learned of the investigation.
Police said the sexual relationship last nine months and involved a student attending classes through the just-completed term.
Police said Caines is no longer employed by the district. A message left with Killeen ISD, which was closed Friday, was not immediately returned.
