Dallas Justice Campaign Exceeds $1 Million in Donations

Over 4,000 low income families will have the opportunity to receive free legal counsel after lawyers in Dallas raised over $1 million.

The Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas have concluded their annual "Campaign for Equal Access to Justice," where local lawyers raise funds to support the operations of the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP).

The DVAP provides civil legal services in the community to those who can't get justice otherwise, according to a statement on their website.

Over 600,000 people meet the standard for assistance, so they will continue with the cause knowing there is more work to be done. Now the group will focus its efforts on recruiting more volunteer attorneys to represent clients.

The co-chairs of the 2015-2016 campaign were Bill Mateja, of Fish & Richardson P.C.; Victor Vital, of Barnes & Thornburg LLP; and Honorary Chair David R. McAttee II, Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel of AT&T Inc.
