The George L. Allen Courts building was buzzing after a reported confrontation in a judge's chamber Wednesday.

Witnesses said Judge Carlos Cortez and Judge Eric Moyé got into an altercation for a reason that has not yet been disclosed -- but it was serious enough that  the Texas Rangers have been called in to investigate.

The Texas Rangers were brought in to avoid any possible conflict of interest between the judges and the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.

Cortez confirmed he was involved in an "incident" but refused to go into details because of the ongoing investigation.

"It was a two-handed shove to the chest where Judge Moyé shoved Judge Cortez," said Roger Mandel, attorney for Judge Cortez.

Moyé denied being involved in any altercation.

One woman who works in the courthouse said there is a history of tension between the judges.
