Jogger Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run

A University Park woman sustained broken bones when a hit by a truck hit her while she was jogging in her neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Police said 50-year-old Jane Condon was jogging near Hillcrest and Colgate avenues when she was struck.

University Park spokesman Steve Mace said the driver stopped briefly to see if Condon was OK but  drove off before police arrived.

“Anytime a motorist strikes a pedestrian -- whether or not the jogger was in the wrong -- it’s a good idea to stay on scene until emergency personnel arrive,” Mace said.

Witnesses were able to give police a good description of the truck, a tan, Chevrolet extended cab pickup with a “paramedics” sticker in the back window.

Investigators located the truck at about 8 p.m. Police said Wednesday night that they have not decided if charges will be filed against the driver.

Condon's son said his mother was being treated at Baylor Medical Center for broken bones and is expected to recover.
