Jail Escapee Caught in Houston

Authorities say a jail escapee once imprisoned for murder has been captured in Houston.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Alfredo Perez said authorities captured Trent De'Ray Archie early Friday morning.

Archie escaped Tuesday from the Walker County Jail, overpowering a guard and fleeing in a car. The next day, the sheriff's department arrested Archie's girlfriend on a charge of facilitating his escape by allegedly providing the car.

Archie was convicted of murder in the 2004 killing of an alleged drug dealer and received 40 years in prison. His conviction was overturned in 2009 and he was granted a new trial. Archie was freed on an appeals bond but was arrested this year on a drug possession count.

Houston is about 70 miles south of Huntsville, where the Walker County Jail is located.
