Irving police said an officer who believed his life was in danger fired his weapon, sending a suspected burglar to the hospital.

Irving Police said officers tracking three suspected burglars in Dallas, and when they attempted "a felony take down" on a vehicle in the 5900 block of Preston Oaks Road, the driver of the car drove toward an Irving officer. Police said that's when the officer fired at the vehicle, striking one of the suspects.

The injured man was transported to Medical City in critical condition by Dallas Fire-Rescue. Two other men in the vehicle were arrested without injury.

No Dallas police officers were involved in the incident.
