An Irving police officer has died after he was involved in a motorcycle crash early Friday morning, officials say.
Officer Mark Stephen Dahl, 54, a 19-year veteran of the Irving Police Department and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, was driving his personal motorcycle on his way to work when he lost control and crashed just before 6 a.m. along Valley View Lane at Interstate 635.
Police said he was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, but did not survive his injuries.
No other vehicles were involved.
Prior to the Irving Police Department, Dahl was a Dallas County sheriff's deputy.
