Irving Police Investigate Suspicious Package

Irving police investigated a suspicious package outside the corporate headquarters of Michaels on Wednesday afternoon.

A source tells NBC 5 they got the suspicious package in the mail and they are concerned it could come from a disgruntled former employee.

The bomb squad was on the scene in the 8000 block of Bent Branch Drive.

Chopper 5 can see a bomb squad robot being used to investigate the package under some trees at the corner of the property.

A source tells NBC 5 the package turned out to be a fake bomb. The package did contain a note, police are still investigating.

Michaels released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"This afternoon, Michaels evacuated one of the buildings at our corporate offices after receiving a suspicious package. We immediately contacted the Irving police, who removed the package and gave us the all clear to return. We are working with police in their investigation and we want to thank them for their quick action and are grateful none of our employees were in harm’s way."
