Indiana has suspended redshirt junior defensive lineman Ralph Green III following his arrest on a preliminary misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly slapping a 20-year-old woman in the face.
The 21-year-old San Antonio, Texas, native was charged with misdemeanor battery, public intoxication and disorderly conduct early Sunday.
The Herald-Times reports the slap occurred after the woman resisted Green's attempt to dance with her at a residence. Police say officers later observed him acting belligerently.
Green was released Monday from the Monroe County Jail. He has no published telephone number and It wasn't clear if he has an attorney.
Indiana said in a statement it will monitor the situation and take further action as warranted.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Green appeared in 11 games last season with 19 tackles and one sack.
