Man Runs Over Wife in Walmart Parking Lot: Police

Hurst police said a man ran over his wife, killing her, and then fatally shot himself in a Walmart parking lot Thursday morning.

Police said Sandy Bentley, of Grapevine, was walking out of the Walmart in the 1700 block of Precinct Road when her husband, Curtis Bentley, allegedly hit her.

"We have some indication that there was some acceleration prior to the impact," said Sgt. Craig Teague.

Officers said Curtis Bentley then drove the Chrysler 300 about 30 yards before stopping the car and shooting himself.
He died on the scene.

Sandy Bentley, who worked at the Walmart, was taken to a hospital, where she died later Thursday.

"No indication from any witnesses that there were any type of altercation between the male and the female," said Teague.

While police investigated, Walmart shoppers stood by in shock.

"It's scary to know that something could happen like that at a store," Lisa Griffith said.

Detectives said they hope Walmart surveillance video caught the incident on tape so they can piece together exactly what happened.
