A veteran Houston firefighter who died while battling a house blaze has been remembered at a memorial service.
The Houston Chronicle reports that speakers at the Saturday service in the Houston suburb of The Woodlands said 46-year-old Daniel Groover as an incredible cook who had a dry-wit sense of humor.
Groover died Wednesday when he collapsed after responding to a fire in a vacant house in Kingwood. His fellow firefighters found him inside the structure on the second floor.
A procession of hundreds of emergency responders made their way to the service for the 21-year-veteran of the Houston Fire Department.
